Repel Wool Fiber Protector is a time-tested compound designed to inhibit and retard wool disintegration from carpet moths, beetles, & other organic sources.
• Denatures Rugs To Help Prevent Wool Degradation• Two-Pounds Treats Up To 16,000 Sq Ft• Ready To Use pH Is 3.1
Repel is used as a repellent for carpet beetles and moths by making fibers less appetizing, rather than killing on contact. This chemical is applied as a spray to rugs and carpets to prevent infestation by changing the "taste" of the material. Repel can last up to a year until the rug is washed at which point it should be reapplied.
Warning: Due to variations in construction, soiling, cleaning methods, and topical treatments, no warranties are expressed or implied. Use at your own risk. Test and proceed cautiously through each step in the cleaning process. Wear respirator and proper PPE when applying Repel indoors.
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix 1/2 scoop (.75oz) of Repel and 1 cap of *Oriental Rug Shampoo (other other neutral ph detergent) with one-gallon water. Apply to clean wool carpet or rugs at the rate of 400 square feet per gallon.
*Neutral PH detergent allows mixture to better break the fibers’ surface tension, allowing for more thorough coverage.
Deeper piles require more coverage. Area rugs should be sprayed on both sides. Spray all areas for adequate protection, especially edges and turnunders. Brush pile after applying Repel.
Test for colorfastness or color change on textiles in an inconspicuous area before using.
Do not breathe powder when mixing. Use of a respirator when mixing & spraying indoors is recommended.
